Sewing Sunday

Today I felt the need to sew. Perhaps in a combined form of nesting, I have also been on the hunt for receiving blankets and burp cloths. When we went to our last birthing class the other night, we were told that we needed a lot of receiving blankets. Not the cute frilly ones that are soft and plush, but the flannel kind. I went through my stash of blankets as soon as I got home and I only had three. We were told we would need around 15!! Well Bryan and I immediately bought some, but I decided I would look online to see if I could find an easy way to sew my own. After reading through a receiving blanket tutorial I thought I would be able to make my own.
I had also learned over the past week how to make two different types of cute burp cloths and burpies and wee wee wigwams. Wee Wee Wigwams are a cuter name for those Pee Pee Teepees that you can buy in fancy stores that provide protection from little boy showers during diaper changes. I just couldn't resist making some of my own while I was sewing today.
Since Hancock Fabrics was having a huge sale thanks to Labor Day weekend, I was able to buy two yards of flannel for around $5.00. I had already purchased some standard white cloth diapers to use as burp cloths and I had some fleece left over from my rag quilt project, so I was set to sew today.

I made one receiving blanket, 4 burpies, 1 decorated burp cloth, and 6 WeeWee Wigwams.

Here are the WeeWee Wigwams. They are such a cute idea!
