Noxzema: A Scent that Triggers My Past
Yesterday afternoon I purchased a jar of Noxzema. My awful sunburn from last Friday at the pool still has not healed, so it was recommended that I get some Noxzema to help ease the pain. I had not bought Noxzema in years because I use other facial cleansers, but I was very familiar with the product because my mom used it as I was growing up and I think still does to this day. When I was getting ready for bed I decided to apply some of the cream to my sunburn. As soon as I opened the jar I was instantly taken back to my childhood. I could see me and my mom together in our bathroom at 44 Overhill. I remember how the entire bathroom would smell like Noxzema and the scent would drift into my bedroom across the hall. At the time I really wasn't fond of the smell, but last night I instantly felt love after smelling the scent. I have an odd heightened sense of smell and certain smells are instant triggers of my past. The scent of Noxzema, I have now found, is a reminder of my loving and caring mom. It was nice to open that jar of cream and instantly think of her. (Thanks mom for providing a loving reminder of you by using Noxzema.)

That is too sweet! Nathan's mom has also used Noxzema for years... he may have that same trigger!
