Rough Day
I have had a rough day and it wasn't because of the teaching part of my job. It was because of the video part of my job. It all started last night and it just kept getting worse throughout the day. I was working on a video for the September feature which will be aired on the Barren County Channel which I don't get because I live in BG, but that is a whole different issue for me. I had been working on this video all week in every spare moment I could because I am just kind of figuring my way around the editing software that we use. I had been working on most it at home using Adobe Premiere but somehow I goofed up some still shots that I was using in my 15 minute video and the whole thing was ruined. I had to submit it today so I was in a panic. I ended up going to bed crying and trying to figure out a way to quit the videographer position which wasn't something I wanted to do in the first place. I walked in this morning to tell my principal and started bawling again. I think I basically scared him because of my crying and he said he would try to work out something to improve the situation. I love technology but when it takes me every free moment during the week to get a video done that is ridiculous. I have no training in video, only web design, so it is very frustrating. I can do Photostories which are acceptable for the weekly 6 minute videos I have to do, but the feature videos that are to be submitted once a month have to be elaborate edited videos. I was overwhelmed and wanted out. For crying out loud I have a thesis to work on along with everything else I normally do! Luckily today the first grade had a handwashing program, and I recorded it and did some very minor editing and submitted it instead of my nice video that was ruined that had interviews of teachers and students sharing how the year was off to a great start. The video today still took me a while but luckily I was able to leave school by about 4:45. My principal is getting me training and is also requiring other teachers and students to actually get all the footage at least a month in advance. So I have had a rough day but I think everything is going to be ok. To relieve some stress we went to play some disc golf tonight. I used my three new discs and was very pleased with them and I am hoping for a somewhat relaxing three day weekend.

I'm so sorry. I hate that kind of down to the wire stuff that just makes your stomach hurt! I am glad it worked out ok in the end and you have a nice LONG weekend to rest up. Hope you have plenty of time to be lazy! :)
