Summer Reading Program

This summer I have been working with a few of my students on Tuesday's. We start our day off reading at the the Glasgow Public Library (reading with the kids is my primary purpose for all of this) and then we enjoy lunch of some sort, whether it be a picnic or visiting a restaurant, and then we usually have some kind of real world experience. Some days we take a tour of a business such as the post office or an animal clinic and then other days we try to do something that these kids don't normally get to experience, such as going to the movies or the swimming pool. Yesterday we read for about an hour and a half, we went to El Matzalan for lunch, visited Fort Williams (an old Civil War fort and memorial), and then we went to see the movie Ratatouille. For some of these kids it was the first time they had ever tried Mexican food and it was the first time one girl had ever been to the movie theater. It was a very exciting day and I am having a blast helping these kids experience new adventures!
